Artist Bio:

When the mind’s eye is a kaleidoscope, creation springs forth from the most unlikely of places. Such vision inspires artist Lori Anne McKague’s freestyle works of art.

After a 40-year career in advertising and design, I traded deadlines for discovery—yet found that creativity refused to retire. My freestyle artwork is rooted in curiosity: I begin with a single shape or line, letting intuition and wonder guide my hand. The result is a tapestry of intricate patterns, swirling mandalas, and surface designs that echo the wildness of nature, the geometry of faraway places, and the meditative joy of creative play.

Travel is my muse, and my drawing journal is a constant companion—whether I’m wandering Sicilian markets, sailing the Ionian, or simply watching wildflowers bloom outside my mountain studio in British Columbia. Each piece is a visual story, blending cultural motifs and organic forms into vibrant, harmonious compositions.

My work is a celebration of “what if?”—the heart of creativity. I believe in the power of color to uplift, the beauty of detail to invite contemplation, and the importance of playfulness in art and life. Through licensing, wearable art, and home goods, I hope to share these moments of wonder and curiosity with others, inviting viewers to pause, explore, and find their own stories within the patterns.
